Graphical profile for RO Properties

Assignment: creating a graphic profile for the company began with identifying the company's core values, the market's view of our type of business and where we should stand in relation to competitors.

The work with RO Properties' visual identity started with a series of working meetings with the company's founder and myself. As always, I led that work with computer-free meetings. So much will be digital later, so it's nice to start it all offline, easy for everyone to participate in the process.

Classic preliminary work and quite similar to the early process in working with, for example, interaction design – user stories, wireframes and more. This is to identify the company's core values, the market's view of our type of business and where we should stand in relation to competitors.

We started with the process of creating a graphic profile, which then branched out into me also helping the company with Powerpoint templates, Word templates, Business cards and a website.

During the autumn, the collaboration has also led to us doing side projects such as identifying a brand (name and concept) for a new housing project that is under development.

So there will be more examples of design work shortly.

So we created a graphic profile for the company

We did not give the logo and the company a color like a football team, but have given the whole profile a palette. Even the logo can be displayed in the colors of several palettes. In this way, the company can communicate a little more sympathetically with the target groups Home buyers, municipalities and investors, three radically different target groups.

The first palette is a bit more open, curious and empathetic.

The second part to communicate seriousness & initiative – a little more upmarket.

The logo has emerged from an initial selection of about 20 suggestions around the company's values and a "feeling of purpose".

The font used for everything from website to powerpoint and letter templates is Wotfard. The fourth design project in a row where I have chosen fonts from what I think are extremely talented creators on Atipo in Gijón, Spain.

Design of logo

The logo consists of a logogram and the company name. The logogram is a figure that strives upwards and forwards. But with a steady contact with the ground maintained. It has certain distinct shapes. The letters R and O can be made out from the figure, as well as an abstract image of soft, round buildings.

The free space of the logo. Nothing should happen closer than a distance corresponding to an "O". You don't need to measure an "O" every time, but should see it as a safe one
minimum distance.

Illustration background pattern

I illustrated a series of wallpapers with a subtle pattern. The pattern consists of the logogram, which is assembled into a repetitive pattern.

The wallpapers are available in roughly 30 color combinations. They are mainly created with some of the basic colors as a base. Then there are a lot of variations in which shades are used for the different parts of the pattern.

Illustration for lower right corner

An evolution of the logo into a small urban environment made up of letters. Starting from the fact that the acronym RO was formed into soft shapes that can be interpreted as round buildings, we build on a little with a "city of letters", no logic in that other than that it is natural to continue with just letter shapes. RO is visible at the front - in focus.

Website

As a final and perhaps most significant effort, I created the company website.

  • Introductory interaction design. Who acts how when they use our website?
  • UX, the user experience.
  • Development of the platform
  • Coding of the interface.
